{"id":3356,"date":"2024-02-13T22:51:40","date_gmt":"2024-02-13T22:51:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.climate-justice.earth\/?p=3356"},"modified":"2024-02-13T23:39:23","modified_gmt":"2024-02-13T23:39:23","slug":"special-issue-climate-justice-in-future-cities-geographical-perspectives-for-inclusive-urban-resilience-and-adaptation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.climate-justice.earth\/it\/2024\/02\/13\/special-issue-climate-justice-in-future-cities-geographical-perspectives-for-inclusive-urban-resilience-and-adaptation\/","title":{"rendered":"Special Issue Climate justice in future cities: Geographical perspectives for inclusive urban resilience and adaptation"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The new special issue <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencedirect.com\/science\/article\/pii\/S0169204623003171?via%3Dihub\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Climate justice in future cities<\/strong><\/a> is now avaibable&nbsp;in Landscape and Urban Planning Journal and it was edited by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.climate-justice.earth\/#\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Climate Justice Centre of the University of Padova<\/strong><\/a> (Italy).&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This special issue involved <strong>8 research groups<\/strong> from six different countries, that explored urban climate justice both in the &#8220;Global North&#8221; and the &#8220;Global South&#8221;: Italy, Denmark, China, Ecuador, Canada, and Spain (see the table below).&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Existing scholarship has highlighted the urgent need for climate action plans and strategies to take into account and introduce principles of equity and justice in urban policies and interventions by drafting the concept of \u201curban climate justice.\u201d&nbsp;<br>Hence, in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencedirect.com\/science\/article\/pii\/S0169204623003171?via%3Dihub\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">present special issue<\/a>, different paradigmatic case studies and innovative methodologies were investigated and critically analyzed in the context of urban climate justice. The <em>fil rouge<\/em> linking these studies, located in different geographic and socio-economic contexts, together with an interdisciplinary perspective, allowing for a comprehensive and profound understanding of how climate justice is shaping our cities and urban areas, including those located in remote contexts, and how to deal with this to develop sustainable, just, and future cities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The majority of the articles are in open-access; you can freely download and share them.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table><tbody><tr><td><strong>Authors<\/strong><\/td><td><strong>Title<\/strong><\/td><td><strong>Case study<\/strong><\/td><\/tr><tr><td>F.
